about Rupert Woolsey
Rupert was
born in 1913 in Jerseyville and died on October 20, 1989
He was the
owner and operator of Woolsey's Food Market from 1946 to
1967. Later he was the manager of Gubser's Furniture Store
from 1968 until he retired in 1979.
He was a
World War II U.S. Army Veteran.
Rupert was a Cpl. in
the service and received his formal discharge on Feb. 6,
1946 at Jefferson Barracks. He entered service on Feb. 4, 1943
and went overseas June 24, 1945.
He was the son of
Austin and Hattie (Mains) Woolsey
On April 10, 1941 in
Warrenton MO. he married Edna Muntz
He had one son Thomas
and one daughter Martha
