FROM

COACH JACOBS

Hello All-

As the summer approaches, it is a necessity that we get our practice field in shape.  We are starting to put treatments down to help the current practice field conditions. So--Sunday Gatherings and Open Field Sessions are cancelled as of today.  We want to make sure we have the best facility available when Summer Opportunities start in June.  Please stay off the grass.  We will also be doing some renovations to the inside of the Complex as well.

Pending school board approval, Camp/Opportunity forms will be available soon.  Please look for them via e-mail and at each school.

The energy and enthusiasm is high.  I can't wait to actually move and start having some fun!

Contact me with questions.

Let's be special!!!!!!!

Thanks!!

SINCLAIRS

MR. PANTHER AWARD

This award is presented to the Panther player who best displayed dedication, Integrity and Loyalty for the sake of his team.

2010 Winner:

Jason Hamilton

JCHS Football Hall of Fame

1928

1928 was a struggle to find game articles, but alas pantherfb.org dug deep into the archives of the old and now defunct Jersey County Democrat. Although the material shows it's age and is very hard to read, most of the game stories are more detailed than those from previous years. Notice that the author of most of these stories was Frederick Miller a Sophomore. Miller, joined the Varsity football team in 1929 as a Junior and also played in 1930 while a Senior. He was a very special young man and gets a special salute from this website for all he accomplished for our football program.

Football 1928-'29

The Football Letter Men

Charles Malloy-

"Shanty" was captain this year and filled the hole behind the line. He could always be counted on to make that "first and ten."

William Allen-

"Bill" showed his fleet feet to many opponents this year. He played one of the halfback positions.

Rupert Snyder-

"Buck" was one of the best halfbacks that we had although he didn't break into as many games as some of the others.

Paul Horn-

"Hornie" was one of the utility ends but was always ready to give his best when called into the game.

IvanHeiderscheid-

"Heide" was our reliable quarterback and he could always be depended on for the forward pass or punt.

JohnMcQuerrey-

Johnny played guard or halfback and played both positions well.

Max Downey-

Max was a real tackle and although light, plugged the line so that no opponent got through.

Melvin Beckner-

Melvin could always be counted on to hold his guard position and the other fellow didn't try twice to break through his position.

CharleyReynolds-

Charley was a real center and never gave up the fight that is needed to make a real football player.

Russell Roach-

"Russ" was a very good end and specialized in breaking through and smearing the opponents' plays.

Joseph Ballard-

"Babe" was a great tackle and the opposing team always could be seen to thrown worried glances at him before they started a play in his direction.

Paul Woolsey-

"Red" was a real linesman, being able to play from tackle to tackle and proved a most valuable man.

RupertWoolsey-

"Chicken" was an excellent utility linesman and could be counted to play nearly any position.

Rupert Dunham-

"Spud" was a utility end but was always a good fighter and liked to snag forward passes.

Immannuel Ayres-

Ayres was an excellent halfback and could get through for end runs and line smashes.

THE RESERVES

These are the men that do a great deal of work, take a lot of hard bumps but are seldom seen on the field of play. However, they have learned what grit it takes to become a first string player and are planning on making the team in some future year. The school owes much to these men who are willing to come out and play "second fiddle" in order to give the regulars a practice battle.
