SINCLAIRS

MR. PANTHER AWARD

This award is presented to the Panther player who best displayed dedication, Integrity and Loyalty for the sake of his team.

2009 Winner:

Michael Pruitt

1928

1928 was a struggle to find game articles, but alas pantherfb.org dug deep into the archives of the old and now defunct Jersey County Democrat. Although the material shows it's age and is very hard to read, most of the game stories are more detailed than those from previous years. Notice that the author of most of these stories was Frederick Miller a Sophomore. Miller, joined the Varsity football team in 1929 as a Junior and also played in 1930 while a Senior. He was a very special young man and gets a special salute from this website for all he accomplished for our football program.

JERSEY TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL

JTHS 1946 OPP
0 Mt. Olive

The Season's opener, though the score doesn't indicate, was a game in which the teams were closely matched.

19
6 Western Military Academy

It was a hard fought game and was lost in the closing seconds. The boys proved that they had the stuff.

12
18 Winchester

Winchester was our first Conference game. The team didn't show the usual fight but came through in winning colors.

6
7 Pittsfield

The first team was "lousy" and the opponent was the strongest we had met. Coach used more boys in this game than any other.

39
0 Roodhouse

After a hard fought, scoreless game, the opponents managed to edge by for another victory over J.T.H.S. in the last two minutes of the game.

6
26 Greenfield

After a heartbreaking defeat by Roodhouse, the team rebounded to set back Greenfield by a barrage of passes.

6
27 Carrollton

It was a free scoring duel, but we managed to edge by Carrollton with one point. The defense of both teams was very weak.

26
16 White Hall

The line fought hard; but due to poor passing and a weak defense we were downed by a narrow margin of 3 points.

19
33 Pleasant Hill

J.T.H.S. closed the 1946 season football season by trouncing Pleasant Hill. The boys exhibited good teamwork and a hard driving backfield.
