SINCLAIRS

MR. PANTHER AWARD

This award is presented to the Panther player who best displayed dedication, courage and stamina for the sake of his team.

2007 Winner:

JARED PEGUE

1928

1928 was a struggle to find game articles, but alas pantherfb.org dug deep into the archives of the old and now defunct Jersey County Democrat. Although the material shows it's age and is very hard to read, most of the game stories are more detailed than those from previous years. Notice that the author of most of these stories was Frederick Miller a Sophomore. Miller, joined the Varsity football team in 1929 as a Junior and also played in 1930 while a Senior. He was a very special young man and gets a special salute from this website for all he accomplished for our football program.

PANTHERFB.ORG HALL OF FAME TREE

Game of the Past

JCHS 21 CM 20

September - 1993

Griffith gets tackled from behind by a CM defender in this 1993 Play-off game.

With it's offense relentlessly pounding JCHS throughout the second half, CM had the defending Mississippi Valley Conference champions staggered and on the ropes.

But the Panthers promptly served notice that they are not about to relinquish the Valley title without a fight.

After CM battled back from a 14-3 halftime deficit to take a 20-14 lead with eight minutes left, JCHS sophomore Dylan Griffith answered with a 78-yard touchdown run and Kyle Breden added the PAT that vaulted the Panthers to a 21-20 victory over CM at Jersey Community High School.

Jersey County Star recognizes Pantherfb.org

New website launched for Panther football team

Want to get a better grip on Jersey Panthers football? Want to gain more knowledge about coaches, players, teams in the conference and all the little tidbits that go with all football junkies? Well, give the new Panther football website a shot.
In the works now – it is up and operating as we speak – the Panthers have launched a brand new website geared towards Jersey Panthers football.
The brains behind the whole operation are former JCHS students and loyal Panther followers Mike McInerney and Keith Norman. It’s located at www.pantherfb.org.
"It’s going to be a neat thing," said Jersey football coach Chris Skinner. "I haven’t had a whole lot to do with it, but I check it out every day and help get some information to it.
"It’s going to be really neat during the season because he’ll (McInerney) do game previews, postgame articles and provide things like your articles and other articles about the program. He’s got a digital camera that he’s going to go out and take pictures of the kids, and that’s what it’s about. It’s going to be a website for the kids. He had a lot of good ideas. I’m kind of excited about it."
Norman is the one who launched the project and McInerney will be the one operating the site on a daily basis, providing Panther fans of all ages everything they need to know about Jersey football past, present and future.
"We have a long way to go, but things are starting to fall into place and it’s looking good," McInerney said. "I have been wanting to build this site for a long time, partly because Skinner is a great friend and a good guy and I think he and the kids deserve the attention.
"You always see kids from other conferences and other parts of the state getting the hype but never kids from this area. I am going to work hard to change that. The site will be pro Jerseyville of course but also pro MVC (Mississippi Valley Conference). And I hope it will be a nice place for all MVC fans. Kids can go to find information and give them something to be proud of. As a fan, it’s my way of giving back something positive to the kids."
While the site is currently under construction, it should be ready to go in full swing by the start of the 2005 football season, but there is plenty of information to go around now. The site features links for: Meet the Panthers, Varsity, Sophomore, Freshmen, Coaches, Pictures, News, History, Directions, Past Panthers, MVC News, A Message Board as well as PAC (Panther Athletic Club) info.
"I think it’s great for our program," Skinner said. "People are going to be able to get on there. They’ll be able to see scores from all the games, all levels of the games, get updates on what kids are doing."
"The trick is trying to find someone with the knowledge and that takes the time to do it because there’s a fair amount of time that’s involved," said Jersey athletic director Pat Coyle. "I think we’ve found that person." Grafton Technologies, Inc. sponsors the site.
"Keith has taught me a lot already about building a web site, this is my first time," McInerney said. "Most of the content is my idea and creation, but he got the ball rolling on constructing the site and makes it look pretty.
"We are going to have a team photo on the front page and I am going to buy a nice digital camera in the next few weeks so I can get pictures of all the kids to add. I am also wanting to do a scrolling breaking news or news flash that will also contain up to date scores from the area on Friday and Saturday nights during the season on the front page. I also want to incorporate every aspect of Jerseyville Panther football onto the site."
Again, log onto www.pantherfb.org and begin surfing the Panther web.
